The simplicity of this brown garland from a rehearsal dinner creates a casual but warm look and feel to this table. And the wire stand for holding the table cards / favors is brilliant!

From the bride: “The table cards are actually our favors. For each event we had over the weekend, we made a donation to a charity that meant something personal to us. For this event, we made a donation to Heifer International in honor of our guests– we used these cards to describe the gift that had been made in their honor to each guest. Our other charities were LowCountry Golden Retriever Rescue foundation and Lowcountry AIDS services.”

“why is a raven like a writing desk?”

Just watched the new Alice in Wonderland this past weekend. Along with many out there, Alice is one of my favorite childhood stories. In addition to the classic Disney cartoon, I also loved to watch the live action 1985 version starring a number of well-known actors including Sherman Hemsley, John Stamos, Shelley Winters, Scott Baio, Carol Channing and Sammy Davis Jr.

I really enjoyed the latest made-for-tv Syfy version, Alice, as well. It’s much darker, definitely not meant for children, and while the Syfy special effects left much to be desired, it was still an enjoyable movie. Plus, there’s not many versions out there where Alice is a grown young lady and has a love interest!

With all these different versions of Alice out there featuring a fancy-free and whimsical and brightly colored Wonderland, the classic illustrations from Lewis Carroll’s original story tend to get overlooked. That’s why I love these party decorations by The Long Thread designed using those illustrations.

I love Yael Naim’s video for “New Soul” where she’s moving into her new room and finds herself floating on four-post river raft. There’s a similar shot on her website too.
